U.S. Air Force F-4 Heritage Flight

  •

  • The USAF Heritage Flight program was established in 1997 to commemorate the Air Force's 50th anniversary. It involves today's state-of-the-art fighters flying in close formation with World War II, Korean, and Vietnam-era fighters such as the P-51 Mustang and the F-86 Sabre. The flight's mission is to safely and proudly display the evolution of U.S. Air Force airpower and to support the Air Force's recruiting and retention efforts.

The U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight program presents the evolution of USAF air power by flying today's state-of-the-art fighter aircraft in close formation with vintage fighter aircraft. A Heritage Flight performance involves a current USAF fighter piloted by an Air Combat Command single-ship demonstration team pilot and flown with a historical warbird piloted by a trained and certified civilian Heritage Flight pilot. The program includes eight active duty pilots (six demo team pilots and two QF-4 pilots) along with nine civilians.
